Friday Five: 5 Things I Love About Summer!

Summer is here, and it is hot!! I am SO thankful for air conditioning! However, with that heat, comes a lot of great things to enjoy - things I can't experience during the rest of the year. Without further ado, here are my

Images found hereherehere, and here.

1. Fireworks - I love watching fireworks each year! We have a small park just down the street from my house, and we walk to it every year with our lawn chairs and card games, and just spend the evening with family and friends. It's the perfect spot to see our town's fireworks, and we don't have to drive anywhere!

I love the variety and colors of fireworks. My favorite kind are the ones I call "Weeping Willows", you know, the ones that almost melt down after they burst? They're not very common, but a good show will throw in two or three, and it makes my night.

2. Snowballs - Since moving down to Maryland, I have been learning a new dialect. One of those different words is Snowball. Up North, we call them Snow Cones, and there's a lot less sugar, and definitely no chocolate or marshmallow topping. The picture above is the best representation of a Snow Cone that I grew up with.

However, I am really liking the southern Snowball! Yes, it's super sweet, and sometimes the concotions people get are crazy - Bubblegum with Marshmallow topping?! Really? - but the amount of flavors are endless, and you can't beat the price! Which kind of sweet iced treat do you have, and what do you call it?

3. Amusement Parks - I am definitely an amusement/theme park person. I love the thrill rides, the water rides, the Carousel Swings, but not the roller coasters. Not at all. Well, I can go on the kiddie ones! That's the extent of my roller coaster escapades. But at an amusement park, there are a ton of things to do and a ton of rides to go on! Our whole family loves theme parks, and we try to go once a summer. We had a blast at Six Flags America last year - read about that awesome park here!

4. Vacation/Easier Schedule - This is actually the first year I've actually been able to experience an easier schedule during the summer. Through a series of circumstances, I've actually had to cut back on my scheduled jobs and have been a lot more free throughout the day. Wow- it is so nice! I love being able to catch up on things I've wanted to do for months, and I've been able to clean and organize more too. I'm catching up on blogging more as well, and I am so thankful that I have the time for that.

5. Sleeping In/Staying Up Late :) - Since I have a lighter schedule, I am able to stay up later, and that in turn translates into sleeping in. I'm working on budgeting my time a little better and tightening up my schedule so that I can sleep a little without letting the whole morning get away from me. It is nice, though, to know I can slack off (a little) if I'd like.

So that's 5 things that I love about summer! What are some of your favorite things about this season?
