My Favorite Christmas Tradition: My Ornament Collection

From the time they are little, children love helping to decorate for Christmas! They love helping to string the popcorn or setting the candy canes on the tree and even getting to hang some of the nonbreakable ornaments on branches that they can reach.

I remember the excitement of decorating the Christmas tree and I loved when my parents let me help! It was so special to me to be able to be a part of something as important as our Christmas tree! ☺

About ten years ago, my parents took it one step further and gave my two sisters and me our first (of many) yearly ornaments. We were allowed to pick out an ornament that we liked and they would buy it for us. When it came time for us to move out years later, we would be able to take the ornaments we had collected.

That event has continued every year since. This is honestly one of my very favorite traditions. I love how the yearly ornament we pick out is like a snapshot of our life that year and what things we are interested in. I have Disney ornaments, Christmas/Winter-themed ornaments, music-themed ornaments, and just other pretty ones that I've picked out throughout the years.

It is already a huge change to spend Christmastime away from family, or even just in your own home or apartment, so having your own ornaments that you've gathered for years helps to start your own Christmas decoration collection!

Each of the girls in my family now has at least 10 ornaments that we will be able to use on our own trees with our families and remember the wonderful memories of decorating the tree!
