Calendar Journaling

I love scrapbooking - the idea, the papers, the embellishments, the supplies, looking at completed albums and reliving the memories...but it's a little harder for me to actually do it myself. I have one album done, but that's as far as I've gotten. The supplies are just sitting in my attic at the moment. Surfing Pinterest the other day (I am absolutely addicted), I found a great idea that I think will be a lot easier to put into practice: Calendar Journaling.

I love how simple it is! I can just jot down a few sentences before bed about each day and its activities. I'm also able to add any small mementos from the month, like ticket stubs, little notes, etc. This way I'll be able to write down the high points and memories of each day, and if I decide to take them to the next level and scrapbook them, I'll have the details already there! I also love the idea of how I'll be able to go back and read through the whole year seeing what happened then. When December 2013 rolls around, it'll be a lot harder to remember what happened in January and February!

TracyU (the creator of the page above) has many beautiful pages in her Flickr folder here. Kate Crane of The Kathryn Wheel has a whole years worth of examples here, like the one below:

Sam from Luna has some pretty ones here, too!

I am so excited to put this new system into practice! I just have to find a calendar... :)

Blessings,

  1. Oh that's a neat idea. I've had my own experience trying to finish a full scrapbook and mid-way through, I didn't try hard enough. A month's dedication seems much more easier to handle and there's less pressure! I'm really liking the example of TracyU's simple but creative month! I also like how a day can have a few written words and then a corresponding embellishment or memento attached! Thanks for sharing this fun idea!
